Tianjin Bohai Bank made a sensational start at the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship, overpowering Egypt’s Zamalek Sporting Club in straight sets with scores of 25-16, 25-18, and 25-15. The Chinese side showcased their dominance as Wang Yizhu, Li Yingying, and Chen Boya combined to contribute an impressive 48 points.

The match began with Tianjin asserting their strength early on. Setter Yao Di expertly set up Irina Fetisova for a powerful spike, propelling Tianjin to a 14-9 lead in the first set. The team’s defensive prowess was on display when libero Liu Liwen made a crucial save against a spike from Maya Mamdouh. Capitalizing on this, Li Yingying unleashed her signature left-handed attack, extending the lead to 16-9. Tianjin comfortably secured the first set at 25-16.

Maintaining their momentum into the second set, Tianjin played with patience and precision. Li Yingying continued to be a formidable force at the net, delivering aggressive finishes that kept Zamalek on the defensive. Wang Yizhu demonstrated exceptional control and versatility, leading the scoring with a match-high 17 points. Her sharp-angled spikes were key in preserving Tianjin’s lead throughout the match.

Tianjin sealed the victory by taking the next two sets 25-18 and 25-15, showcasing their depth and cohesion as a team. This win marks a confident beginning for Tianjin, who achieved their best-ever result of third place in last year’s tournament. The team now prepares to face Italian powerhouse Numia Vero Volley Milano in their next match.
