In a stunning display of strength and precision, China’s Wu Yan claimed all three gold medals in the women’s 87kg category at the World Weightlifting Championships held in Manama, Bahrain.
The 23-year-old dominated the snatch event, securing victory with her initial successful lift of 115kg. She continued to outperform her competitors with subsequent lifts of 120kg and 122kg, entering the clean and jerk with an impressive 8kg lead.
Wu solidified her dominance in the clean and jerk by lifting 148kg on her second attempt, which guaranteed her the gold. Not stopping there, she hoisted 150kg on her final attempt, culminating in a total lift of 272kg and affirming her position as the top athlete in her category.
Australia’s Eileen Cikamatana delivered a commendable performance, earning silver medals in the clean and jerk and overall total with 257kg, along with a bronze in the snatch.
