China’s Liao Guifang Dominates Women’s 81kg at World Weightlifting Championships

In a stunning display of strength and skill, China’s Liao Guifang swept all three gold medals in the women’s 81kg category at the World Weightlifting Championships held in Manama, Bahrain.

Liao showcased exceptional performance in the snatch event, successfully lifting 120kg on her second attempt to secure the gold. Not stopping there, she went on to lift 123kg in her third attempt, further establishing her dominance. Mongolia’s Ankhtsetseg Munkhjantsan claimed the silver, while the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s (the DPRK) Kim Kyong Ryong took the bronze.

The excitement continued in the clean and jerk event. The DPRK’s Kim Kyong Ryong lifted 147kg, earning her all three bronze medals of the competition. Egypt’s Olympic silver medalist Sara Samir delivered a strong performance with a 149kg lift, securing two silver medals.

Liao remained unmatched, succeeding in all three of her attempts. She guaranteed her gold medal after lifting 150kg on her second attempt. Demonstrating her remarkable prowess, she proceeded to lift 155kg on her final attempt. Her total dominance was all the more impressive given that she was the lightest competitor in her division.

Liao’s clean sweep not only highlights her individual talent but also underscores China’s strength in the sport of weightlifting on the international stage.
