China’s Under-19 Team Triumphs 6-0 Over Mongolia in Panda Cup Opener

The 2024 Panda Cup International Youth Football Tournament kicked off this week in Chengdu, southwest China, with a thrilling opener as China’s Under-19 squad faced off against Mongolia. Demonstrating dominance on home soil, China secured an emphatic 6-0 victory on Wednesday.

China set the tone early, with Tang Tianyi opening the scoring just five minutes into the match. The momentum continued as Zhu Pengyu and Bai Yutao each found the back of the net, and Zhu added another goal, propelling China to a commanding 4-0 lead before halftime.

In the 55th minute, Tang delivered a precise pass to Du Yuezheng, who skillfully netted the fifth goal. As the match approached its conclusion, Wu Yongqiang capitalized on a rebound from a free-kick initially saved by the Mongolian goalkeeper, heading in the final goal just four minutes before stoppage time.

The comprehensive win places China in a strong position as they prepare to face Australia on Saturday. This year’s Panda Cup features four teams: China, Mongolia, Australia, and Kyrgyzstan, all competing as they build towards the AFC Under-20 Asian Cup next year.
