Chicago, USA – Kenya’s Ruth Chepngetich delivered a historic performance on Sunday, obliterating the women’s marathon world record at the Chicago Marathon. She crossed the finish line in an astonishing unofficial time of 2 hours, 9 minutes, and 56 seconds, slicing nearly two minutes off the previous record.
Chepngetich dominated the race from the outset, setting a blistering pace that left her competitors trailing. She completed the first five kilometers in just 15 minutes and had established a significant lead by the halfway point. Amidst roaring cheers along the final stretch, she secured her third Chicago Marathon title in emphatic fashion.

On the men’s side, Kenya’s John Korir claimed victory with a remarkable time of 2:02:44, adding to the day’s triumphs for Kenyan athletes.
