In a thrilling all-Chinese final at the World Table Tennis (WTT) China Smash in Beijing on Saturday, Chen Xingtong and Qian Tianyi emerged victorious in the women’s doubles event, defeating Sun Yingsha and Wang Yidi in four intense games.
The match, held at the iconic Shougang Park, showcased high-level table tennis from both pairs. The first game was a nail-biter, with the score tied at 10-10 before Qian and Chen secured two consecutive points to claim it 12-10.
The second game mirrored the first in intensity. Qian and Chen faced four game points but displayed remarkable resilience, saving each one to take the game 12-10 and extend their lead to 2-0.
Refusing to relent, Wang and Sun dominated the third game, capitalizing on an error by Qian to win decisively at 11-3 and narrow the gap.
However, a comeback was not on the cards as Qian and Chen regained their momentum in the fourth game. With precision and teamwork, they secured a 12-7 victory, clinching the match in just 35 minutes.
This win marks Qian and Chen’s second title of the year, following their success at the WTT Star Contender Doha earlier. Their performance at the China Smash solidifies their position as one of the top women’s doubles teams in international table tennis.
