The inaugural World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) World Championship Breaking Youth event has officially commenced in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, bringing together some of the most talented young b-boys and b-girls from around the globe. This groundbreaking competition sees 228 athletes from 42 nations and regions vying for the coveted title of world champion in the youth division.
Among the highlights of the opening ceremony was a special performance by China’s own Liu Qingyi, also known as B-Girl 671, who earned a bronze medal in breaking at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. Her appearance energized the crowd and set the tone for an event that promises to showcase the creativity and skill of the next generation of breakers.
Unlike the senior version of the World Championships, this youth edition features participants aged between 14 and 18, providing a platform for young talents to express themselves and pursue their breakdancing dreams on an international stage. The diversity and originality of their performances have already captivated audiences and judges alike.
The first day of competition was intense, culminating in the selection of the top 16 athletes in each division. Notably, 10 boys and 6 girls from China successfully advanced, highlighting the country’s growing prominence in the breakdancing scene. As the competition progresses, these young dancers will engage in head-to-head battles, each bringing their unique style and passion to the floor.
