Chefs de Mission Seminar Kicks Off for Ninth Asian Winter Games in Harbin

In the northeastern city of Harbin, China’s Heilongjiang Province, the Chefs de Mission Seminar for the ninth Asian Winter Games commenced on Monday, bringing together representatives from 32 National Olympic Committees. The seminar marks a significant milestone in the preparations for the upcoming games, scheduled to take place from February 7 to 14, 2025.

Over the course of the seminar, the Hangzhou Asian Winter Games Organizing Committee (HAWGOC) is presenting comprehensive updates on the event’s preparations. Detailed discussions are being held on 17 major topics, including competition services, venue readiness, the Athletes Village, anti-doping measures, and catering and accommodation services. The organizers are also addressing questions and concerns raised by the Chefs de Mission to ensure a smooth and successful event.

To better understand the needs of each delegation, the Organizing Committee is conducting multiple one-on-one sessions with delegation chiefs. They have also set up consultation booths covering 14 operational areas such as ticketing, protocol, and medical services. In addition, the Chefs de Mission are touring competition venues to gain an in-depth understanding of the facilities and site conditions.

“We are pleased to see that with the concerted efforts of all stakeholders, HAWGOC has achieved great success,” said Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Vice President Song Luzeng. “On behalf of the OCA, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and congratulations to the Chinese Olympic Committee (COC) and HAWGOC for the great efforts and achievements you have made in the past year.”

According to the organizers, the ninth Asian Winter Games will feature a record-setting participation from 34 National Olympic Committees, reflecting the growing popularity and significance of winter sports across the continent.
