The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has been cleared of any bias toward China, as affirmed by an independent prosecutor’s final report released on Thursday. The report concluded that WADA’s decision not to appeal certain doping cases was reasonable and justified.
Independent prosecutor Eric Cottier presented his findings virtually to WADA’s Executive Committee (ExCo). His review focused on WADA’s handling of the China Anti-Doping Agency’s no-fault contamination cases involving Chinese swimmers in 2021.
The investigation scrutinized concerns that WADA may have shown favoritism towards China in these cases. However, Cottier’s comprehensive examination determined that WADA acted appropriately and without prejudice, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to fairness and integrity in global sports.
