Chinese Swimmers Claim 600th Gold at 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris

Chinese swimmers have etched their names in the history books by claiming the nation’s 600th gold medal at the 2024 Summer Paralympic Games in Paris. The remarkable achievement was part of a spectacular performance on Thursday, where Chinese athletes secured 12 gold, nine silver, and 10 bronze medals, maintaining their lead atop the medal table with a total of 74 golds.

The mixed 4×50-meter medley relay 20 points final was a highlight of the day, with Lu Dong, Zhang Li, Wang Lichao, and Guo Jincheng setting a new world record with a time of 2:24.83. Their victory not only added China’s 70th title at the 2024 Para Games but also marked the team’s historic 600th gold medal in Summer Paralympics history.

In another display of dominance, Guo Jincheng, Wang Lichao, and Yuan Weiyi swept the podium in the men’s 50-meter freestyle S5 final by claiming the top three spots. Guo shattered the world record, completing the race in 29.33 seconds. Yuan followed with a time of 30.80 seconds, and Wang secured the bronze, finishing in 31.23 seconds.
