The upcoming Paris 2024 Paralympic Games are set to mark a significant turning point for the Paralympic Movement, according to International Paralympic Committee (IPC) President Andrew Parsons. With over 1.75 million tickets sold ahead of the August 28 opening, enthusiasm is building for an event that promises innovation and inclusivity.
“The Paralympic Movement has become more relevant than ever,” Parsons stated on Tuesday, the eve of the Opening Ceremony. “It’s also because of the ambition of the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee. In many areas, they are innovative, and we’re part of that. I think there will be a ‘Before Paris’ and ‘After Paris’ for the Paralympic Movement.”
Breaking from tradition, the Opening Ceremony will be held outside of a stadium, taking place on the iconic Champs-Elysees and at the Place de la Concorde. This follows the Olympic Opening Ceremony held on the River Seine, reflecting Paris’s dedication to integrating the Games into the heart of the city.
