Beijing unveiled China’s delegation for the 2024 Paris Summer Paralympics on Friday, marking a significant milestone as the nation prepares to send a formidable team of 284 athletes to compete on the global stage.

The 516-member delegation, including 284 athletes, will participate in 302 events across 19 sports. Comprising 126 male and 158 female athletes, the team reflects China’s commitment to supporting athletes of all abilities.

The oldest athlete on the team is 48-year-old table tennis veteran Xiong Guiyan, while the youngest is 15-year-old swimming prodigy Zhu Hui. Notably, 95 athletes will make their Paralympic debuts in Paris, showcasing fresh talent and promising futures.

Scheduled to begin on August 28 and conclude on September 9, the 2024 Paris Summer Paralympics will host approximately 4,400 athletes from 160 nations and regions, competing in 549 events across 22 sports.

Paris 2024 will mark China’s 11th appearance at the Summer Paralympics. At the pandemic-delayed Tokyo Summer Paralympics in 2021, Chinese athletes achieved remarkable success, securing 96 gold, 60 silver, and 51 bronze medals.

With a blend of seasoned champions and eager newcomers, China’s Paralympic team is poised to make a significant impact in Paris, continuing a proud tradition of excellence and inspiring performances.
