Chinese weightlifter Luo Shifang delivered a stellar performance at the Paris Olympics on Thursday, clinching the gold medal in the women’s 59kg division.
Luo lifted an impressive 107kg in the snatch and followed it up with a clean and jerk of 134kg, achieving a winning total of 241kg. Her remarkable display not only secured the top podium spot but also showcased China’s strength in the weightlifting arena.
Maude Charron of Canada earned the silver medal with a total lift of 236kg, while Kuo Hsing-Chun of Chinese Taipei took home the bronze with a close 235kg.
The competition was fierce, but Luo’s consistent lifts placed her ahead of her rivals. Her victory contributes to China’s medal tally and continues the nation’s tradition of excellence in Olympic weightlifting.
