The Chinese delegation for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games held a press conference on Tuesday to summarize the performances of the country’s athletes in Paris. Delegation vice chief Zhou Jinqiang commended the team for their achievements, calling the results “relatively ideal.”
China secured a total of 21 gold, 18 silver, and 14 bronze medals across 12 events, including shooting, diving, table tennis, and badminton during the first ten days of the Games.
“We won two gold and one silver medals in shooting, diving, and swimming events on the first day of the Paris Games, making a good start,” Zhou said. “On the second and third days, we faced some difficulties in swimming and gymnastics, but we took targeted measures and made timely adjustments to help athletes relieve their pressure and boost their morale.”
Zhou also highlighted the outstanding performance of swimmer Pan Zhanle, who broke the men’s 100-meter freestyle world record with a time of 46.4 seconds to clinch the gold medal.
The delegation emphasized their commitment to supporting the athletes throughout the remainder of the Games, aiming to continue their strong performance on the international stage.
