Liu Yukun Secures China’s 10th Gold in Paris with Men’s 50m Rifle Triumph

Liu Yukun propelled China to its 10th gold medal at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics on Thursday by clinching victory in the men’s 50-meter rifle 3 positions event. The 27-year-old sharpshooter’s triumph also marks China’s fourth gold in shooting at this year’s Games.

Despite not surpassing his own world record of 468.9 points set at the ISSF World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan, on May 11, Liu’s exceptional performance in Paris showcased his consistent excellence. He secured the gold with a final score of 463.6 points, outpacing Ukraine’s Serhiy Kulish, who took silver with 461.3 points.

The intense competition saw Liu maintaining a steady lead. His precision and composure under pressure were evident as he navigated the kneeling, prone, and standing positions, which challenge even the most seasoned shooters.

Swapnil Kusale of India delivered a strong performance to claim the bronze medal with 451.4 points, adding to India’s presence in Olympic shooting sports.

Liu’s victory not only contributes to China’s medal tally but also inspires aspiring athletes across Asia. His journey reflects dedication and the pursuit of excellence, embodying the spirit of the Olympics.
