Hayden Wilde on Paris 2024 Triathlon Challenges Amid River Seine Water Concerns

Organizers of Paris 2024 are hopeful that improved weather conditions over the next few days will enhance the water quality of the River Seine ahead of the triathlon competition scheduled for Tuesday.

Heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours led to the cancellation of Sunday’s practice session due to safety concerns over water quality. Should conditions not improve, organizers may remove the swim segment, transforming the triathlon into a duathlon consisting of cycling and running.

New Zealand’s Hayden Wilde, a prominent triathlete, shared his thoughts on the challenges facing the event in an interview with CGTN’s Dan Williams. He discussed the potential impact of altering the competition format and the significance of the swim segment in triathlon.
