China’s dynamic duo, Chen Yiwen and Chang Yani, soared to victory in the women’s synchronized 3-meter springboard diving event at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris on Saturday. Their stellar performance secured the second gold medal for the Chinese diving team in this year’s Games.
The pair dominated the competition with a total score of 337.68 points, outpacing their closest rivals. Sarah Bacon and Kassidy Cook of the USA earned 314.64 points to claim silver, while Britain’s Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen took bronze with 302.28 points.
Chen and Chang showcased consistency and precision, leading the scoreboard from the very first dive. They opened with a 201B back dive and concluded their remarkable routine with a complex 5152B forward 2-1/2 somersaults with 1 twist.
“Our biggest wish this year was to win in Paris,” the duo expressed with joy. “Our small wish was to complete every detail in the best way.”
Their victory not only adds to China’s illustrious history in Olympic diving but also cements Chen and Chang’s status as athletes to watch in future international competitions.
