China’s national table tennis team held an intensive training session on Tuesday at South Paris Arena 4, the designated venue for table tennis during the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
The Chinese team, renowned for their dominance in the sport, are preparing to compete in all five table tennis events: men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s team, women’s team, and mixed doubles. They will enter the competition as defending champions in four of these categories from the Tokyo Games held in 2021.
The mixed doubles gold was the only title that eluded China three years ago. Determined to reclaim the top spot, the team is fielding their premier duo, Sun Yingsha and Wang Chuqin, to compete in Paris. After completing their singles training, the pair engaged in practice matches against fellow teammates Zhou Qihao and He Zhuojia, as well as Liu Dingshuo and Wang Tianyi. Mixed doubles coach Xiao Zhan closely observed the sessions, offering guidance and strategic insights.
The table tennis competitions at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics are set to commence on Saturday and will run through August 10. The schedule for the five finals is as follows: mixed doubles on July 30, women’s singles on August 3, men’s singles on August 4, men’s team on August 9, and women’s team on August 10.
With the Olympics fast approaching, the Chinese team is intensifying their preparations, aiming to uphold their legacy and achieve a clean sweep of gold medals in Paris.
