Spain Squad Meets King and Prime Minister Before Euro 2024 Victory Parade

The Spanish national football team celebrated their historic Euro 2024 victory by meeting with King Felipe VI at the Zarzuela Palace and Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez at the Moncloa Palace on Monday. The celebrations continued with an open-top bus parade through Madrid, where thousands of fans cheered the champions.

Spain secured their record fourth European Championship title after defeating England 2-1 in the final held at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on Sunday. The team showcased exceptional performance throughout the tournament, winning all seven of their matches.

“Given the brilliance that Lamine Yamal has gifted us at the age of 16, there’s not really much to add,” King Felipe VI remarked, praising the young talent.

Prime Minister Sanchez expressed the nation’s ambition, saying, “We want a lot. We want more.”

Tennis legend Rafael Nadal also lauded the team’s success. “I think the Spanish team played amazing from the first day of the Euros to the last. The whole country is very proud,” Nadal said.

The team paraded through the center of Madrid, culminating at Plaza Cibeles, where they were greeted by tens of thousands of ecstatic fans. Team captain Alvaro Morata addressed the crowd as he presented the trophy.

“We’re champions of Europe! I’ve been proud to be captain of this team,” Morata said. “Sometimes I score, and sometimes I don’t, but I promise you that I’ve given everything to win this European Championship. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. It was magical.”

Midfielder Rodri was named Player of the Tournament for his outstanding performance throughout Euro 2024, while Lamine Yamal secured the Best Young Player award with a tournament-high four assists.
