Lewis Hamilton Ends 945-Day Wait with British Grand Prix Victory

Lewis Hamilton ended a 945-day wait for victory by securing his 104th Formula One win at the British Grand Prix on Sunday. Racing in front of his home fans at Silverstone, the 38-year-old Mercedes driver delivered a masterful performance that will be remembered as one of his most special triumphs.

“That’s the longest stint without a win, 945 days. This could be one of the most special for me, if not the most special,” Hamilton said after the race. “There have definitely been moments when I thought it’s never going to happen again.”

Hamilton’s last victory came at the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, and since then, he has faced fierce competition from rivals, including reigning champion Max Verstappen. Sunday’s win not only marked a return to the top step of the podium but also reinforced Hamilton’s status as one of the sport’s all-time greats.

“My fans around the world have been so supportive,” Hamilton expressed. “I was coming around and there’s just no greater feeling than to finish at the front here.”

The race concluded with Hamilton narrowly edging out Red Bull’s Verstappen, who finished second, while Lando Norris secured third place for McLaren. The home crowd erupted in celebration as Hamilton crossed the finish line, becoming the first F1 driver to win at a single circuit nine times.

“For me, personally, it’s the best track in the world,” said Hamilton, reflecting on his achievement at Silverstone. This win adds to his impressive list of records, including his seven world championships and numerous pole positions.

When asked about his post-race plans, Hamilton shared with a smile, “With a curry. I love Indian food.”
