CHINADA Opposes USADA CEO’s Statements on China’s Anti-Doping Efforts

The China Anti-Doping Agency (CHINADA) has issued a statement expressing strong opposition to remarks made by the CEO of the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) during a recent U.S. congressional hearing. CHINADA contends that the USADA CEO’s comments misrepresented China’s anti-doping efforts and undermined international collaboration in the fight against doping in sports.

In the statement released on Friday, CHINADA noted that the USADA CEO made “serious misrepresentations” regarding China’s commitment to anti-doping measures. The agency criticized the remarks as being “out of context with emotional and political rhetoric,” alleging that they included unfounded accusations against Chinese athletes and suggestions of a cover-up involving CHINADA and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

“These statements severely undermine the reputation of CHINADA, WADA, and the global anti-doping system,” CHINADA stated. The agency stressed its dedication to upholding the principles of fairness, justice, and integrity in sports, emphasizing its ongoing efforts to collaborate with international bodies to ensure a clean and fair competitive environment for athletes worldwide.

CHINADA also expressed concern over what it described as an attempt to politicize anti-doping efforts, warning that such actions could harm the well-functioning global anti-doping order. “Manipulating the case for political purposes runs counter to the principles we all strive to uphold,” the statement added.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to working with international partners to strengthen anti-doping governance and serve athletes equally across the globe. It called for a focus on constructive dialogue and cooperation to enhance the effectiveness of anti-doping initiatives.

As of now, there has been no public response from USADA regarding CHINADA’s statement.
