Shanghai Port Secure Ninth Straight Win to Maintain CSL Lead

Shanghai Port continued their dominant run in the Chinese Super League (CSL) by securing a 2-0 victory over Wuhan Three Towns on Tuesday in Wuhan, central China’s Hubei Province. This win marks their ninth consecutive triumph, solidifying their position at the top of the CSL table.

The visitors seized control early in the match. In the 14th minute, Matheus Jussa intercepted a pass in midfield and delivered a precise through ball to Oscar. The Brazilian midfielder skillfully navigated between two defenders before slotting the ball into the net, giving Shanghai Port a 1-0 lead.

Shanghai Port doubled their advantage in the 36th minute. A misjudged clearance by Wuhan’s defender Deng Hanwen allowed Matias Vargas to capitalize on the opportunity, firing the ball past the goalkeeper to make it 2-0.

Wuhan Three Towns appeared to respond just two minutes later when Tao Qianglong found the back of the net with a volley. However, the goal was disallowed after a VAR review confirmed an offside in the buildup.

With this victory, Shanghai Port are now five points ahead of their city rivals Shanghai Shenhua, although they have played one more game. Shanghai Shenhua are set to host Meizhou Hakka on Wednesday, aiming to close the gap at the top of the table.

In other CSL matches on Tuesday:
