Branko Ivankovic, the coach of the Chinese men’s national football team, has called for unity ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Korea in Seoul on Tuesday.
“As a strong team in Asia, South Korea have always been a regular participant in the World Cup who have several world-class players with outstanding abilities. In response, we will focus on collective defense and prioritize team collaboration,” Ivankovic stated.
The Chinese team is currently dealing with injury setbacks. Forward A Lan did not travel to South Korea, while Wu Lei and Zhang Yuning are carrying injuries. In light of these challenges, Ivankovic emphasized the need for increased focus and teamwork.
Chinese forward Fei Nanduo expressed optimism ahead of the match. “We are paying great attention to this game and hope to achieve a good result,” he said. “We will strive towards victory. Personally, I am in a good state and will do my best to help other young players.”
