Djokovic, Sabalenka Shine Through Rainy Start at Roland Garros

The French Open faced a damp start on its third day as rain disrupted play at Roland Garros. However, defending champion Novak Djokovic of Serbia navigated the weather challenges smoothly, securing a solid opening victory in his quest for a record-extending 25th Grand Slam title.

Djokovic’s performance on Court Philippe Chatrier was methodical rather than flashy, but it was enough to move him into the next round amidst the gloomy Parisian skies. Earlier in the day, Norway’s Casper Ruud and Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka brightened the scene with impressive first-round wins, showcasing their skill and resilience despite the conditions.

Denmark’s 13th seed Holger Rune also delivered an energetic display, defeating Britain’s Dan Evans in straight sets. Rune’s usual flair was on full display, adding excitement to an otherwise overcast day at Roland Garros.
