Usyk Defeats Fury to Become First Four-Belt Era Undisputed Heavyweight Champion

In a historic night for boxing, Oleksandr Usyk of Ukraine defeated Britain’s Tyson Fury by split decision to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era. The electrifying bout took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, captivating fans worldwide.

Usyk, who entered the ring holding the World Boxing Association (WBA), International Boxing Federation (IBF), and World Boxing Organization (WBO) titles, added Fury’s World Boxing Council (WBC) belt to his collection. The judges scored the intense 12-round fight 115–112, 113–114, and 114–113 in favor of Usyk.

“It’s a big opportunity for me, for my family, for my country, for history,” said an elated Usyk after the fight. “It’s a great day.”

The Ukrainian boxer showcased exceptional skill, particularly dominating the eighth, ninth, and tenth rounds. In Round 9, he landed 14 punches, causing Fury to slump into the ropes. Despite a strong comeback from Fury in the final round, where he rallied unanimously, it was not enough to overturn Usyk’s lead.

Usyk’s victory marks the first time since Lennox Lewis in 1999 that the heavyweight division has an undisputed champion and the first in the four-belt era. This achievement cements Usyk’s place among boxing greats and ignites excitement for the future of heavyweight boxing.

The fight not only made history but also captivated a global audience, showcasing the enduring allure of boxing. Fans and analysts alike are eager to see what lies ahead for the new undisputed heavyweight champion.
