The Chengdu Universiade has been recognized for its exceptional media facilities, receiving the award for Best Media Facilities for Multi-Sport Events in 2023 from the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) on Monday.
Journalists from around the world praised the Universiade’s media facilities and services, highlighting the top-notch standards ranging from advanced hardware equipment to efficient service processes. Thoughtful services such as seamless transportation and accommodation arrangements, comprehensive language translation support, and real-time information updates were particularly lauded by attending journalists.
In the single sport event category, the Budapest World Athletics Championships was honored with the Best Media Facility award.
A total of thirty-three winners were announced at the AIPS awards ceremony on Monday evening. The accolades spanned 24 awards across eight main senior categories, three for young reporters, five for investigative reporters, and one special award recognizing a journalist’s outstanding career.
This year, the AIPS Awards saw a record-breaking 1,887 submissions from 140 countries and regions, underscoring its global significance. AIPS President Gianni Merlo remarked on the heightened participation: “A clear indication of the importance, prestige, and relevance of these awards, which not only encourage the privilege of competing among the world’s best but also raise the bar that will inspire thousands of other journalists across the world in difficult times.”
