Top-seeded Kazakhstani tennis star Elena Rybakina secured her place in the Madrid Open Round of 16 with a decisive 6-1, 6-4 victory over Egypt’s Mayar Sherif on Sunday. The world No.4 showcased her strength on clay, extending her remarkable winning streak.

Rybakina dominated the opening set, quickly establishing a 5-0 lead before Sherif, ranked No.72, managed to hold serve to claim her only game of the set. The second set saw a resurgence from Sherif, who held serve in the opener and broke Rybakina to take a 2-1 lead. However, Rybakina regained composure, breaking back and advancing to a 4-3 lead.

With this win, Rybakina has achieved her 14th consecutive WTA victory on clay courts, joining an elite group of players including Serena Williams, Simona Halep, and Iga Swiatek who have accomplished the same feat.
