Jannik Sinner Advances at Monte Carlo Masters; Defending Champion Rublev Exits Early

Italy’s Jannik Sinner showcased his adaptability on clay courts by defeating American Sebastian Korda 6-1, 6-2 in the second round of the Monte Carlo Masters on Wednesday. Sinner, who has had an impressive run this year, demonstrated his strong form as he transitions from hard courts to clay.

Meanwhile, defending champion Andrey Rublev of Russia faced an unexpected early exit after losing to Australian Alexei Popyrin 6-4, 6-4. Rublev’s defeat opens up the field, adding intrigue to the tournament as top players vie for the title.

Sinner, the Italian second seed, dominated with his serve, winning 95 percent of points on his first serve and saving all three break points he faced. His victory over Korda improves his season record, highlighting his consistency across different surfaces.

“I’m pleased with my performance today,” Sinner said in a post-match interview. “Transitioning to clay is always a challenge, but I felt comfortable out there.”

Sinner has showcased impressive form this season, with deep runs in major tournaments such as the Australian Open and the Miami Open. He also secured a title at the Rotterdam Open, strengthening his position among the top players on the ATP Tour.
