China’s Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha Claim Third Straight Mixed Doubles Title at WTT Singapore Smash

China’s table tennis stars Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha have secured their third consecutive mixed doubles title at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Singapore Smash on Friday. The top-seeded duo defeated South Korea’s Lim Jong-hoon and Shin Yu-bin 3-1 in a thrilling final.

Wang and Sun established an early dominance, taking the first two games 11-7 and 11-8. The South Korean pair, seeded third, fought back in the third game, winning it 11-9 to keep their hopes alive. However, Wang and Sun regained control in the fourth game, sealing their victory with an 11-7 score.

“Both pairs played excellently, and we are quite familiar with each other. Lim and Shin are among the world’s top players in terms of their strength in the singles event and overall capability, so we went all out on the court,” said world No. 1 Sun Yingsha after the match. Sun had earlier faced an unexpected exit in the women’s singles quarterfinal against teammate Chen Xingtong.

Wang Chuqin echoed his partner’s sentiments, saying, “Both sides played well today. Of course, Sun and I were fully prepared for the challenges and managed to have the game under control.”

The victory adds to China’s impressive performance at the tournament, with the team also securing the men’s doubles and women’s singles titles. Wang and Sun’s triumph underscores their dominance in the mixed doubles category, as they continue to set high standards in international table tennis.
