UN Chief Warns Two-State Solution at Risk Amid Rights Violations

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres issued a stark warning on Monday at the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council, declaring that human rights, dignity, and international law are being 'blatantly violated' in regions affected by the Israel-Palestine conflict. He emphasized that the two-state solution is 'being stripped away in broad daylight,' urging immediate global intervention.

Guterres reiterated concerns raised earlier this month during a UN committee meeting focused on Palestinian rights, where he highlighted systemic violations undermining peace prospects. 'The international community cannot allow this to happen,' he stated, calling for adherence to the UN Charter and reforms to ensure developing nations have meaningful representation in global governance.

The 61st UNHRC session, running until March 31 in Geneva, has drawn attention to escalating tensions and the urgent need for diplomatic solutions. Guterres' remarks underscore growing fears that prolonged instability could destabilize broader regional security frameworks.
