The People's Liberation Army Southern Theater Command has condemned recent Philippine actions in the South China Sea, alleging Manila's coordination of external forces threatens regional peace. Air Force Senior Colonel Tian Junli stated this week that Chinese naval forces conducted routine patrols from January 25 to 26 amid escalating tensions.
"The Philippines continues to co-opt countries outside the region to organize so-called joint patrols, seriously disrupting peace and stability," Tian said during a Tuesday briefing.
The spokesperson emphasized the PLA's commitment to safeguarding territorial sovereignty, adding that theater command forces remain "on high alert" to protect maritime rights. This development follows months of heightened activity in contested waters, with analysts noting increased diplomatic maneuvering among Southeast Asian nations.
