The 47th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit commenced in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, bringing together leaders from across Southeast Asia to address regional challenges under the theme of "Inclusivity and Sustainability." The event marks Malaysia's first time hosting the summit since 2015.
Delegates from all 10 ASEAN member states – Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam – will discuss economic recovery strategies, climate resilience, and digital transformation. Related summits with dialogue partners including China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea are scheduled throughout the week, with particular attention to supply chain cooperation and green energy initiatives.
