Member states of the Andean Community—Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru—unanimously endorsed China's observer status, highlighting its pivotal role in fostering multilateral partnerships. Representatives emphasized that China's inclusion will enhance bilateral cooperation, accelerate regional economic integration, and advance sustainable development initiatives across the bloc.
"China has consistently championed the interests of developing nations on the global stage," stated a joint declaration from the council. The move is seen as a strategic alignment to address shared challenges such as trade imbalances, climate resilience, and infrastructure development.
Analysts suggest this development could pave the way for expanded Chinese investments in Andean markets, particularly in renewable energy and technology sectors.
