Uzbek President Visits Beijing for WWII Victory Commemorations

Uzbek Leader Joins Global Observance of Historic Anniversary

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Beijing on Monday to participate in events marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. The visit underscores Central Asia's historical connections to global peace efforts and highlights growing diplomatic engagement between China and Uzbekistan.

Observers note the commemoration serves as both a historical reflection and a platform for strengthening contemporary partnerships. "Such anniversaries remind us how shared challenges forged international solidarity," said Dr. Li Wei, a historian at Peking University. "Today, they create opportunities for dialogue on preserving multilateral cooperation."

The Uzbek leader's itinerary includes meetings with Chinese officials, with discussions expected to cover economic collaboration in renewable energy and infrastructure development. This follows recent agreements under China's Belt and Road Initiative aimed at enhancing connectivity between the two nations.
