Israel-Iran Tensions Surge as Civilian Casualties Mount

Cross-border hostilities between Israel and Iran intensified over the weekend, with both sides reporting civilian casualties and issuing evacuation warnings for targeted areas. The escalation has sparked fears of a widening conflict in the Middle East, drawing global attention to regional stability.

Iranian Health Ministry spokesperson Hossein Kermanpour stated that Israeli strikes have resulted in 224 fatalities and over 1,200 injuries since hostilities began, with 90% of casualties reportedly civilians. A strike on a 14-story residential building in Tehran on Saturday killed 60 people, half of them children, according to Iranian authorities.

Qatar and Oman, acting as mediators, confirmed Iran’s refusal to engage in U.S.-led ceasefire talks while under attack. Both nations have urged restraint, emphasizing the humanitarian toll of the conflict.

Military analysts warn that continued strikes could disrupt key shipping routes and energy markets, while humanitarian organizations call for immediate protection of non-combatants. The UN Security Council is expected to convene an emergency session to address the crisis.
