The Communist Youth League of China (CYLC), one of the country's largest youth organizations, reported a membership of 75.32 million as of December 2024. This represents an annual increase of 6.42 million new members, underscoring its expanding influence among Chinese youth.
According to CYLC Central Committee data released Saturday, the organization now operates through 4.4 million grassroots units nationwide. Educational institutions host the majority of these networks, with 2 million CYLC branches serving 38.5 million student members across schools and universities.
Beyond academia, the CYLC maintains strong representation in enterprise sectors (38%), public institutions (22%), and urban/rural communities (18%), with remaining networks established in emerging social organizations. Analysts suggest this broad base reflects the organization's evolving role in youth development and social governance.
