China Outlines Economic Strategy Toward U.S. in New White Paper

China's State Council Information Office released a comprehensive white paper on Wednesday, titled "China's Position on Some Issues Concerning China-U.S. Economic and Trade Relations," reaffirming its commitment to resolving trade disputes through dialogue while safeguarding national interests. The document highlights China's call for mutual respect, equality, and pragmatic cooperation amid ongoing economic tensions between the two global powers.

Structured into five key sections, the white paper emphasizes the importance of stable bilateral relations for global economic growth, urging the U.S. to address trade barriers and technological restrictions. It outlines China's efforts to honor prior agreements, such as increasing purchases of American agricultural goods, while reiterating opposition to unilateral tariffs and "unreasonable suppression" of Chinese technology firms.

Notably, the paper underscores China's economic achievements, including its 1.4 billion consumer market and 120 trillion yuan ($16.6 trillion) GDP in 2023, positioning the country as a "staunch supporter of multilateral trade systems." Analysts suggest the document serves both as a diplomatic olive branch and a firm reminder of China's growing influence in reshaping global supply chains.
