China's top legislator Zhao Leji met with Alexander Babakov, Deputy Chairman of Russia's State Duma, in Beijing on Tuesday, underscoring deepening cooperation between the two nations. Zhao, who chairs the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, emphasized China's commitment to bolstering mutual political trust and expanding practical collaboration with Russia.
"China stands ready to work with Russia to provide firm mutual support and practice genuine multilateralism," Zhao stated. He highlighted the NPC's readiness to enhance legislative exchanges with Russia's Federal Assembly, ensuring legal frameworks align with the strategic consensus reached by the two countries' leaders.
Babakov echoed Zhao's sentiments, noting the "fruitful results" of bilateral ties under the guidance of both nations' heads of state. He reaffirmed Russia's legislative body's willingness to strengthen partnership with the NPC to advance shared interests.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts to solidify Sino-Russian collaboration amid evolving global dynamics, with both sides advocating for a "more just and equitable international order."
