China, Italy Strengthen Ties on 55th Anniversary of Diplomacy

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with Italy's Senate President Ignazio La Russa in Beijing this week, pledging to expand cooperation between the two nations as they celebrate 55 years of formal diplomatic relations. The meeting reaffirmed commitments made during bilateral talks between their leaders in 2024.

Han emphasized China's willingness to deepen collaboration in economic trade, tourism, cultural programs, educational exchanges, and sporting initiatives. The discussions included long-term strategies to create what Han described as a "more mature and mutually beneficial relationship."

La Russa praised China's developmental progress observed during his visit, stating: "Our ancient civilizations have much to offer global peace through strengthened cooperation." Both leaders expressed interest in transforming historical ties into modern economic opportunities.

The dialogue comes amid growing European interest in Asian markets, with Italy maintaining strategic partnerships in infrastructure and technology. Analysts view such high-level exchanges as critical for navigating evolving global supply chains and cultural exchanges.
