Sam Hou Fai, Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), has called upon local Chinese-language media to leverage their credibility and influence to share Macao’s successful practice of the “One Country, Two Systems” principle with a global audience.

During a dinner reception on Tuesday with representatives from local Chinese-language news organizations, Sam emphasized the pivotal role of the media in conveying compelling stories about the country and the Macao SAR to the world. He expressed hope that through their efforts, the viability and effectiveness of the “One Country, Two Systems” framework would be showcased as a model that can substantially benefit humanity.

“The media’s unique position enables them to highlight the achievements and progress of Macao under the ‘One Country, Two Systems’ principle,” Sam remarked. “By sharing these stories, we can demonstrate to the international community how this framework is not only workable but also advantageous.”

Sam noted that since the sixth-term SAR government took office, all departments have been advancing various tasks with a promising start. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to law-based governance and expressed continued support for the media in enhancing their professional standards and innovating their skills.

The Chief Executive underscored the importance of the media in bridging Macao with the rest of the world. “As we continue to develop and contribute to the nation’s prosperity, it is essential for our stories to reach beyond our borders,” he said. “The media plays a crucial role in this mission.”

The reception reflects the SAR government’s recognition of the media’s role in promoting Macao’s unique position and achievements under the “One Country, Two Systems” framework. It also highlights the government’s dedication to fostering a collaborative relationship with media organizations to advance shared goals.
