Iran has strongly condemned an Israeli airstrike that destroyed an Iranian field hospital near the Syria-Lebanon border, labeling the attack a “war crime”.
On Friday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei denounced the destruction of the 56-bed hospital, operated by the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS). The facility was obliterated along with its medical equipment and aid supplies.
In a statement, Baghaei criticized Israel for what he described as repeated attacks on hospitals and rescue centers in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria. He stated that these actions are a “clear sign of its insurgence against all international regulations and norms.”
IRCS President Pirhossein Kolivand also condemned the airstrike, calling it a “clear violation of international humanitarian law that prohibits attacks against rescue and medical centers.” He noted that the hospital was clearly marked with the IRCS flag, emphasizing its humanitarian mission.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi met with his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, in Doha on Thursday. Araghchi asserted that Israel’s “warmongering” is the primary cause of insecurity and instability in West Asia. He called for an end to what he termed “genocide” and the destruction of infrastructure in Lebanon and Gaza.
The Qatari foreign minister echoed these concerns, urging regional cooperation to halt Israeli “crimes,” promote stability, and support the Palestinian and Lebanese people.
