In a swift response to the tragic attack on a Chinese convoy in Pakistan, China has dispatched an inter-agency working group to Islamabad to assist in handling the aftermath of the incident. The attack, which occurred on October 6 at the Coal-fired Power Plant at Port Qasim, claimed the lives of Chinese personnel and left others injured.
Arriving in Islamabad on October 8, the working group immediately coordinated with the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan and the affected company to initiate emergency response efforts. According to a spokesperson from the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the team has been actively engaging with senior officials from Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, and various military, police, and intelligence departments.
\"We have urged the Pakistani side to appropriately manage the subsequent matters, make every possible effort to treat the injured, conduct a thorough investigation, bring all perpetrators to justice, and enhance security measures to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel, institutions, and projects in Pakistan,\" the spokesperson stated.
Pakistan has strongly condemned the attack, labeling it a terrorist act, and has committed to a full-scale investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible. The Pakistani authorities have assured that they will bolster security protocols and are dedicated to safeguarding Chinese interests within the country.
During their stay, the Chinese working group held memorials for the victims and visited the injured personnel receiving treatment in the hospital. They also met with employees at the project camp to offer support and assurances.
