China has sent an inter-agency working group to Pakistan following an attack on a Chinese convoy at the coal-fired power plant at Port Qasim on October 6, which resulted in the deaths and injuries of Chinese personnel. A spokesperson for China's Foreign Ministry confirmed the swift response on Friday.
Upon their arrival in Islamabad on October 8, the working group immediately coordinated with the Chinese Embassy and the involved company to manage the emergency response. The team held intensive meetings with senior officials from Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, and various military, police, and intelligence departments.
The Chinese delegation urged the Pakistani side to handle the aftermath appropriately, make every effort to treat the injured, conduct thorough investigations, bring the perpetrators to justice, and enhance security measures to protect Chinese personnel, institutions, and projects in Pakistan.
Pakistan has strongly condemned the terrorist attack and is actively dealing with the aftermath. Pakistani authorities are investigating the incident to identify and apprehend those responsible. They have pledged to further strengthen security measures and make every effort to safeguard China's interests in Pakistan.
During their stay, the working group mourned the Chinese victims and visited the injured at the hospital and employees at the project site.
