China Dispatches Inter-Agency Team to Pakistan Following Attack on Chinese Personnel

China has swiftly responded to a deadly attack on its nationals in Pakistan by dispatching an inter-agency working group to the country. The attack, which occurred on October 6 at the Coal-fired Power Plant at Port Qasim, targeted a Chinese convoy, resulting in the death and injury of several Chinese personnel.

A spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Friday that the working group arrived in Islamabad on October 8. Upon arrival, the team immediately collaborated with the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan and the concerned company to manage the emergency response.

The working group held intensive meetings with senior officials from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, and various military, police, and intelligence departments. They urged the Pakistani authorities to properly handle the aftermath of the incident, make every effort to treat the injured, conduct a thorough investigation, bring all perpetrators to justice, and enhance security measures to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel, institutions, and projects in Pakistan.

Pakistan has strongly condemned the terrorist attack. According to the spokesperson, Pakistani officials are fully engaged in managing the aftermath, investigating the incident, and identifying the perpetrators. They have pledged to strengthen security measures and are committed to making every effort to protect China’s interests in Pakistan.

During their visit, the Chinese working group mourned the victims of the attack, visited the injured in the hospital, and met with company employees at the project camp.
