Chinese Premier Li Qiang Calls for Steady China-Japan Relations

Vientiane, Thursday — Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized the importance of maintaining sound and steady ties between China and Japan during his meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. Facing an international landscape marked by change and uncertainty, Li stressed that strong bilateral relations are crucial not only for both nations but also for regional and global stability.

Li noted that China-Japan relations are at a critical stage of improvement and development. He referenced Chinese President Xi Jinping’s congratulatory message to Prime Minister Ishiba, stating that it serves the fundamental interests of both peoples to pursue peaceful coexistence, enduring friendship, mutually beneficial cooperation, and shared development.

The Chinese premier expressed hope that both sides would meet each other halfway, continuously build political mutual trust, and strengthen dialogue and cooperation. “We should strive to build a constructive and stable China-Japan relationship that meets the requirements of the new era and better benefits our peoples,” Li declared.

Prime Minister Ishiba echoed these sentiments, agreeing on the need to enhance cooperation and dialogue. He highlighted the significant role that both countries play in the region and the world, emphasizing that collaborative efforts would contribute to global peace and prosperity.
