Israel and U.S. Vow Retaliation as Iran Concludes Missile Attack

In a dramatic escalation of tensions in the Middle East, Iran announced on Wednesday that it has concluded its missile attack on Israel, warning that further action would only come if provoked.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated in a post on X earlier in the day, “Our action is concluded unless the Israeli regime decides to invite further retaliation. In that scenario, our response will be stronger and more powerful.”

In response, Israel and the United States have vowed to retaliate against Tehran’s actions. Washington declared its intent to work closely with Israel to ensure Iran faces “severe consequences” for Tuesday’s attack.

The United Nations Security Council has scheduled an emergency meeting on the Middle East for Wednesday, as fears of a broader conflict intensify. The European Union has called for an immediate ceasefire to prevent further escalation.

Amid the rising tensions, Israel renewed its bombardment of Beirut’s southern suburbs, a stronghold of Hezbollah. At least three strikes were reported against what Israel identified as targets belonging to the group. Large plumes of smoke were seen rising from parts of the suburbs.

Israeli authorities issued new evacuation orders for the area, which has largely emptied after days of heavy strikes.
