Chinese President Xi Jinping, along with other Party and state leaders, paid solemn tribute to the nation’s fallen heroes at a ceremony held in Tiananmen Square, Beijing, on Monday. The event marked the 11th Martyrs’ Day of China, commemorated annually on September 30, a day before the country’s National Day.
Over 2,400 individuals, including veterans, family members of martyrs, and representatives from various sectors of society, gathered at the Monument to the People’s Heroes to honor those who sacrificed their lives for the liberation of the Chinese people and the establishment of the People’s Republic of China in 1949.
The ceremony commenced with participants singing the national anthem, followed by a moment of silent reflection. Schoolchildren, adorned in white shirts and red scarves, performed a heartfelt chorus, adding a poignant touch to the proceedings. In a symbolic gesture of respect, nine flower baskets bearing ribbons inscribed with “Eternal Glory to the People’s Heroes” were placed before the monument by honor guards.
The Martyrs’ Day ceremony is a significant event that reinforces national unity and remembrance of the sacrifices made in the nation’s history. It serves as a solemn reminder of the dedication and bravery of those who contributed to China’s journey towards becoming a prosperous and strong nation.
