China Calls for Calm After Hezbollah Leader Killed in Beirut Airstrike

China has expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions between Israel and Lebanon following the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Nasrallah died in an air strike in Lebanon’s capital Beirut on September 27, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

“China is closely following the situation,” the spokesperson stated. “China opposes the infringement on Lebanon’s sovereignty and security, opposes and condemns any action against innocent civilians, and opposes any move that fuels antagonism and escalates regional tensions.”

The Chinese government urged all parties involved, especially Israel, to take immediate actions to de-escalate the situation. “We call on the concerned parties to cool down the situation and prevent the conflict from escalating or even spiraling out of control,” the statement added.

The death of Nasrallah has raised concerns over increased instability in the region. China’s appeal reflects its stance on maintaining peace and stability in conflict-prone areas, emphasizing respect for national sovereignty and the protection of innocent civilians.
