In a significant move to bolster international relations, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries on Friday during the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, remarked that the relationship between China and the GCC has maintained a vigorous momentum of development. He emphasized that this partnership has become a model for building a new type of international relations.
“The GCC is the most dynamic regional organization in the Middle East and a good friend of China,” Wang Yi stated. “China values its relationship with the GCC and is ready to strengthen communication and coordination. We will continue to firmly support each other on issues concerning each other’s core interests and push for deeper and more solid cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, energy, investment, and innovation.”
The foreign ministers of the GCC countries expressed their willingness to collaborate with China to implement the consensus reached at the first GCC-China Summit. They highlighted their commitment to enhancing cooperation in various fields, including economy, trade, finance, investment, energy, aerospace, artificial intelligence, and climate change. This collaboration aims to promote greater development of GCC-China relations.
During the meeting, both sides also exchanged views on the current situation in the Middle East, underscoring their shared interest in regional stability and development.
