China’s Wang Yi Calls for Two-State Solution Amidst Palestine-Israel Conflict

New York—Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday called for the implementation of the two-state solution to resolve the ongoing Palestine-Israel conflict, emphasizing the necessity of a permanent ceasefire and comprehensive peace talks.

Addressing a high-level meeting of the United Nations Security Council on the Middle East in New York, Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, urged all parties involved to “fully implement the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and avoid taking any more risky actions that escalate the tensions.”

Wang Yi highlighted the importance of promoting a permanent ceasefire and comprehensive troop withdrawal in the Gaza Strip. He encouraged all Palestinian factions to implement the Beijing Declaration on Ending Division and Strengthening Palestinian National Unity. He voiced support for the Palestinian Authority in enhancing its governance capabilities to achieve effective jurisdiction over all Palestinian territories.

He proposed that the UN Security Council should support Palestine in becoming a full member of the United Nations and make new efforts to implement the two-state solution. “China supports convening a larger, more authoritative, and more effective international peace conference to formulate a timetable and roadmap for the implementation of the two-state solution,” Wang Yi stated.

Wang Yi emphasized the necessity to increase humanitarian assistance, ensure effective access to humanitarian supplies, and support the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East in its ongoing efforts.

He affirmed China’s stance of non-interference in the internal affairs of Middle Eastern countries and its commitment to not exploiting hotspot issues for geopolitical interests. “China is ready to work with all peace-loving countries, including Arab and Islamic countries, to make unremitting efforts in curbing the spillover of the conflict, implementing the two-state solution, and promoting peace in the Middle East,” he added.
